Hey! I'm Reed Silverstein an ambitious seventeen-year-old drummer/singer from Jersey. Some of my influences vary from John Bonham, Vinny Appice, Tommy Lee, Jonathan Mover Mike Mangini, Marco Minnemann, Travis Orbin, and Matt Halpern to Steve Gadd, Tony Williams, Buddy Rich, and the list goes on. I began my musical career at a very young age - I started playing drums when I was three. I studied with my father Richard Silverstein aka (RAZ). My first recording experience was when I was six at Skyline Studios NYC with my fatherís old band One Power. I sang “Jingle Bells” at the end of their original “Maybe I Love You More”. Shortly after that I sang, at the Metropolitan Opera Children's chorus from age's five
to ten. During that time I was chosen to sing in Tosca, La Giaconda, La Boehme, Hansel & Gretel and many other operas.
During my years in Middle school I was involved in many classically trained ensembles. Another exciting experience was the Inter School Orchestra (ISO) in which I played percussion. While with the ISO I performed at Avery Fischer Hall & Symphony Space, as well as several other prominent New York City venues. I also became involved with my Middle School & High School Orchestras and Marching band. I have received Bronze & Silver awards for Marching Band. My teacher suggested I try out for Bergen County Band, and I was chosen 2 years in a row to participate.
Some of my formidable musical training was done at the School Of Rock in South Hackensack New Jersey. While there I studied with Andy Lucibello, Adam Holzman, Jane Getter, Frankie Keane, Jimmy Gnecco, Static, Brett Romans, Brett Romans, Ray Belli, and Darek Palczak. While at School of Rock I had the fortune to jam with Leslie West, & Joe Lynn Turner. My current music educators are Jonathan Mover & David Yee.
Aside from all of my formal training, I was involved with a band called Doomsday Diaries. We performed together for 3 years at several venues such as The Bamboozle (2011) at the Meadowlands, The Stone Pony, Balloon Festival (New Jersey), Beatles Fest NYC, Union County Music Festival, The Gramercy Theater, The Blender Theater, The Highline Ballroom, School of Rock South Hackensack, Mexicali Live, Dingbatz, MetLife Stadium (2013) and many more. In 2010, as “the Yoo Hoos”, my band (Doomsday Diaries) won first place at Beatlesfest N.Y.C.
In February of 2012 I was awarded a scholarship to the Rock & Roll Fantasy camp. I attended the camp for 1 week in Los Angeles, California by myself and it was a awesome, life changing, motivating experience for me. I was given the opportunity to meet several famous musicians and perform with them! I jammed with Billy Sheehan, Phil Soussan, Rudy Sarzo, Lita Ford, Bruce Kulick, Warren Haynes, Zakk Wylde, Steve Vai, Alan White, Sandy Genarro, “Slim Jim Phantom”, and Vinny Appice. Iíve actually kept in touch with Vinny, Rudy, Bruce, Billy, and Sandy. Rock & Roll Fantasy camp gave me the opportunity of a lifetime, culminating with recording a single at Henson Studios with Eddie Kramer (Jimi Hendrix/Zeppelin), and performing at the Whiskey-A-go-go with bassist Billy Sheehan.
