This week, Jeff Lai, Tom Villa, and Marc Cicchino represented NVRHS at the 2023 ISTE Conference in Philadelphia. ISTE (the International Society for Technology in Education) is a global organization that focuses on the effective use of innovative technologies to transform teaching and learning.
A notable and impressive highlight of the 2023 ISTE Conference was the participation of the NVOT Esports team in a competition against Pennsylvania. As the state champions, NVOT’s students were asked to represent the state of New Jersey (through GSEsports) in this competition, played a competitive match on the ISTE Conference’s main stage, and WON. We congratulate the NVOT Esports team, and thank Mr. Lai for advising and supporting the program.
Additionally, Dr. Cicchino presented a session on “Video Games, Student Engagement, and the Brain” in which he showcased and celebrated much of the great work we do in Northern Valley, such as teaching for mastery and implementing “reflection and revision” practices across the district.
